Journal Report #3

We are back and I am tired.  It has been a long day of school work after school work. I'm hungry. I'm still recovering from Saturday's football game. So, if I seem a bit biting, I apologize.  Also, if this post feels short it probably has to do with the fact that words are leaking out of my brain and out of my ears as I type.

Reading:

I am still reading Entwined, which I am enjoying very much. I love the unique idea behind it all, and the many sisters considering I never had any sisters myself.

I read Soldier Boys by Dean Hughes. It made me cry at the end.  Wasn't expecting that.

Besides lots of small little things I've been reading like blogs and classmates picture books, I've been reading a little here and there about writing.  I will speak more about this later.

On a side note, I just had a wonderful talk with a friend about to books I lent her.  This is one of my favorite things about reading; being able to converse about a book with someone else and talk about your differing opinions.

Writing:

With homework, cleaning checks, and other distractions writing has not been as consistent as I would hope.  Boo hoo for me!  It is funny how you can love something so much and yet spend so little time with it.  Well, here is a sample of some of my writing:

The night hung in the sky like a crooked picture on a rusty nail.  Any moment now, Mick expected it to come falling down revealing the glowing colors of morning.  His breathing stilled as he heard something coming through the woods.  Zombies?  No, its too quiet for zombies.  Werewolves? Can't be. No moon. That meant only one thing.  His hair prickled across his arms.  After saying a quick prayer. He bent over and shook his companion on the ground.
"Wake up."
"Huh?"
"Wake up.  They are coming."
"Okay! Okay!"  She understood the word They.  A word people had been whispering for the last few months. They had taken out towns.  They had poisoned rivers, leveled forest, and infected entire populaces.
Mick heard the sound again. "We got to go.  Now."  Without another word they started running.

Just a little bit a paranormal stuff I decided to play with.  Probably not going anywhere with it, but it's kind of fun.

My Crazy Life:

Like I said, I'm tired.  So, you are going to have to wait until next week.  Adios!

  1. Agreed about the loving something yet not doing it nearly as much as you'd like (even when there is time). Also, I think discussing and sharing books is the best part about reading. It allows us to form bridges and push each other. Thanks Corey.
